When I was younger, I really enjoyed the Shannara books by Terry Brooks. At the time, I liked to read fantasy much more than I do now, but I re-read the Sword of Shannara trilogy many times, as well as the Heritage of Shannara series that followed it. It's been quite a while since I've read any of these books but as they were ones I really enjoyed in the past, I'd like to read them again. There are also new books out in the series that I've never read (Voyage of Jerle Shannara books and High Druid of Shannara books). So I'm going to attempt to re-read these books and go through the whole Shannara saga.
However, since I'm not as into fantasy as I used to be, I'm giving myself the freedom to give up if these books just don't grab me like they used to. Also, I'm allowing myself to skim parts as some of these books are rather long and there are some very descriptive parts that I don't need to read every single word. So I'm allowing myself to skim :-). This is also going to be a perpetual challenge, though I hope to get through the 14 books I have by the end of 2009.
