Flawless by Joshua Spanogle

Flawless Flawless by Joshua Spanogle

My review

rating: 4 of 5 stars

Pretty good suspense thriller - long though. I didn't realize it was over 500 pages. But it was a pretty quick read. Dr. Nate McCormick, a public health doctor in between jobs, finds himself embroiled in a mystery when an old friend of his contacts him and then is murdered shortly afterward. On the hunt to find out why his friend was murdered, he finds his own life in danger and must keep a step ahead to keep from getting killed. The main character must come to grips with himself and his own dark side as he battles those who would silence him.

I found out about this author through one of the Medical Mystery Madness challenges when someone had Isolation Ward on their to-read list. I also have Isolation Ward on my booksfree list to read even though technically it takes place before Flawless. There was humor scattered throughout this book as well, which made it kind of fun along with the suspense that kept the pages turning. There were some gruesome parts in relation to how people were murdered, so not recommended for the faint of heart. Overall, I would recommend this for those who like suspense thrillers and medical thrillers. A 4/5 rating

Change Your Heart, Change Your Life by Gary Smalley

Change Your Heart, Change Your Life: How Changing What You Believe Will Give You the Life You've Always Wanted Change Your Heart, Change Your Life: How Changing What You Believe Will Give You the Life You've Always Wanted by Gary Smalley

My review

rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was an okay book dealing with the subject of our beliefs and how they affect our behavior. A strong proponent for memorizing Scripture to help in combating false beliefs, Smalley takes us through how what we believe and our expectations can make a difference in our attitude. It was almost too "peppy" for my taste, but overall a good book. Took me forever to read through it though as I only read a little at a time. I think I started this back in June or July.

Fall Into Reading Challenge 2008

For this year's challenge, I can't do a list of books as I don't know what books I will have for the next 3 months. I am now at the end of my owned TBR books and am getting my books from Booksfree and the local library. But I still like to participate in this challenge. I can always list the books that I do read as part of the challenge.
My goal for this Fall challenge is to read at least 8 books. Given the number of books that I've read in the last few months, this should be incredibly simple. But you never know :-).

Here are some potentials:
Finish reading Change Your Heart, Change Your Life by Gary Smalley - I feel like I've been reading this book forever and I'd like to actually finish it. It's a good book, but nonfiction often takes me longer and it's harder to read at night because it puts me to sleep easier.
Flawless by Joshua Spanogle - one of my current books from Booksfree
The Convenient Groom by Denise Hunter - one of my current books from Booksfree
Signs of Life by David Jeremiah - another nonfiction; one I own and would like to read
First King of Shannara by Terry Brooks - a re-read and part of the Shannara Challenge

On my Booksfree list, but depending when they ship:
Miss Match by Erynn Mangum
Single Sashimi by Camy Tang (can't wait to read this one!)
Blood Lies by Daniel Kalla
The Secret's In the Sauce by Linda Evans Shepherd and Eva Marie Everson (another Potluck Club book)
Prints Charming by Rebeca Seitz
Skin by Ted Dekker
The Deadliest Strain by Jan Coffey
The Song of Hannah by Eva Etzioni-Halevy
Plague Year by Jeff Carlson
Ah, to see what the mail will bring me!
Here's the post with other participants.
