At times, I get tired of keeping track of the books I read. I just want to read and not think about writing down when I finish a book, or logging it on Goodreads. Inevitably, I seem to be too anal to go for very long without going back to keeping a list or tracking the books I've read. It has been helpful for me to go back over past years' reading lists to see what I've read. But if I don't remember reading a book and decide to read it, who cares if I've read it already? If I don't remember reading it, what does it hurt to read it again anyway?
Also, I tend to not log when I just skim a book. I don't count that as a read book. But if I get the gist of the book, then in a sense I have knowledge of the book, even if I haven't read every word.
So I think I may try to not track my books read for a while. I don't review every book I read anyway. I probably won't go very long before I start keeping a list again, but for now I am giving myself the freedom to just read without keeping a list.
